McKenna & Associates have been briefed by a law firm seeking 1-2 lawyers/senior lawyers to join their growing personal injury practice.

Offices are conveniently located in both the Perth CBD and East Fremantle. This role is to be based in the Perth CBD office.
The Role:
As a Lawyer/Senior Lawyer, you will undertake a broad range of work in areas of all Personal Injuries, including Motor Vehicle Accident, Workers’ Compensation, Criminal Injuries Compensation and Public Liability.
The successful candidate will use independent judgment to carry out complex tasks, demonstrating their capacity to undertake professional work with great efficiency, effectiveness and reliability.
Supporting a team of fellow professionals, you will be required to demonstrate initiative and work as an enthusiastic team member with the capability to work autonomously in accordance with the Firm’s office routines and procedures, keeping in mind the Firm’s overall objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing advice to clients on personal injury matters and representing clients in all personal injury matters.
- Demonstrate a high degree of legal ability and knowledge in personal injury law.
- Effective and efficient management of a high volume file load.
- Conduct and co-ordinate litigation, including the preparation of documents and applications for the District Court, Supreme Court and Work Cover WA, and attendance where necessary.
- Drafting of all documents, including letters of advice and Court documents.
- Assessment of claims, including assessment of damages, and providing advice to clients on the reasonable range for damages/settlement.
- Working collaboratively with Counsel, as well as opposing Counsel, Solicitors and representatives.
- Conducting negotiations to achieve settlement of claims in a timely manner and to the Firm’s satisfaction.
- Conduct meetings with clients, Counsel, team members and Directors, as required.
- Handle matters of complexity and sensitivity without regular need for direction or supervision.
- Demonstrate considerable professional judgment in carrying out all legal tasks.
- Managing support staff and providing assistance to more junior legal staff.
- Working constructively with the Director’s of the Firm to achieve set targets and budgets.
- Efficient time management skills.
- Proactive, punctual and reliable.
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Skills and Experience
- 3 years+ PAE in personal injury law.
- Right to work in Australia.
- Keen interest in personal injury law.
- Knowledge and understanding of the legislative process.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced legal environment.
- Knowledge of personal injury law and claims processes a significant advantage.
